About Lumyo
What Lumyo is, and where it came from.
What is Lumyo?
Lumyo is a notes app that answers your questions from your own notes and shows the source behind every answer.
You write notes, and Lumyo adds a short summary and a category to each one. When you need something, you ask. It runs on web, iOS and Android, and the waitlist is open now, ahead of launch.
Is Lumyo an AI notes app?
Yes, Lumyo AI is a notes app that files your notes for you and answers questions from them.
Each note gets a two-line summary and a category picked for you, so you never sort anything. You can dictate when typing is slower, and upload PDFs and slides to ask them the same way you ask your notes.
Who makes Lumyo?
Lumyo is made by its founder, Vlad Tiganila, in Romania.
It started as his bachelor's thesis at the University of Craiova, with one question: could an AI answer only from the notes a student picks, and show where every answer came from? The research behind it is now part of WISE 2026 AI4Good in Venice.

Can I choose which notes Lumyo reads?
Yes, you pick the notes for each chat, and Lumyo only reads those.
Studying for one exam? Pick that course's lectures. Getting ready for a client call? Pick the meeting notes from that client.
How do I know where an answer came from?
Answers cite the notes they used, and tapping a source opens the exact line.
Lumyo opens that note scrolled to the sentence it used, with the sentence highlighted, so you can check an answer in one tap. It works the same on your phone and on the web.
Does Lumyo make things up?
Lumyo is built to tell you when your notes don't cover a question, instead of guessing.
Each answer lists its sources, so you can check any point against your own note. Nothing there? Add more notes to the chat, or ask the question another way.
How is Lumyo different from ChatGPT?
ChatGPT is a general chatbot, and Lumyo is a notes app that answers from the notes you choose, with sources.
A general chatbot is built to talk about almost anything. Lumyo is where you write your notes every day. Each chat reads only the notes you pick, and every answer links to the line it came from.
How is Lumyo different from other AI note-taking apps?
Lumyo is designed around answers you can check: you choose the sources for each chat, and every answer shows them.
It grew out of research at the University of Craiova on letting learners control what an AI reads. That idea runs through the app, from picking the notes for a chat to tapping a source and landing on the exact sentence.
Who it's for
Students, founders and teams with more notes than time.
Read: How to study from your own notes before an examWho is Lumyo for?
Lumyo is for students, founders and teams who have more notes than time to reread them.
Students ask about exams. Founders ask about customers, calls and the decisions they made last quarter. Both get the same rule: the answer comes from your notes, with the source.
Is Lumyo good for students?
Yes, Lumyo was built with students in mind from its first version, a bachelor's thesis.
Write or dictate your lecture notes, upload the slides, and Lumyo summarizes and files each one. Before an exam, ask something like “Which lab covered PCR?” and get an answer that points to the lecture or lab it came from.
Can founders and teams use Lumyo?
Yes, Lumyo is built for founders and teams as well as students.
Keep your customer calls, meeting notes and research in Lumyo, then ask something like “What did we promise the client in March?” The answer cites the meeting notes behind each point, so you can stand behind it.
